FAQs

M&M Tours Skagway Alaska Excursions

Booking & Cancellations

It depends on the tour. If the excursion you want is in high demand, such as a Skagway helicopter glacier landing or dog sledding camp, you should absolutely book ahead of time — these often sell out well before arrival because multiple cruise ships can be in port the same day.
For tours like the White Pass Train, there’s usually plenty of space available throughout the day, so it can make sense to wait until you arrive. This way, you can check the weather and visibility conditions before deciding.

If your tour is canceled, you will receive a full refund. We hold your reservation with a credit card but don’t charge it until you arrive in port, so the refund process is simple.
Cancellations are most common on helicopter and flightseeing tours when weather conditions make it unsafe to fly. We’ll do our best to help you reschedule or find an alternate tour.

Once you book, our local team confirms your departure time, meeting location, and pickup details by email. You’ll have all your tour information before you arrive in Skagway.
If you need to change your plans, just reach out — we’re flexible. You can also stop by any of our sales booths near the cruise docks when you’re in port for assistance.

Yes! Many guests prefer to book the same day after checking the weather or seeing how their morning unfolds.
Call or text us early in the morning between 6:00–7:00 a.m., and we can usually get you on your preferred excursion — even for large groups.

We accept all major credit cards. Your reservation is secured with your card, but we don’t charge it until you arrive in port. This way, if plans change or weather cancels your tour, there’s no delay or paperwork for refunds

Pricing & Safety

Cruise lines often mark up the same tours by hundreds of dollars and discourage guests from booking locally.
When you book with M&M Tours, you get the exact same excursions — often with the same operators — but at significantly lower prices, with more flexibility and direct support from locals.

No. This is one of the biggest myths we hear. We coordinate every tour schedule carefully around your ship’s departure time

Yes — we offer a 100% Guarantee that you won’t miss your cruise ship because of one of our tours.
If you ever did, we’ll pay to fly you to your next port. In 22 years of operation, we have never once had to do this.

By booking independently, most travelers save hundreds of dollars per person compared to cruise line pricing.
Plus, when you book direct, your money stays in Skagway’s local economy, supporting a small town of just over 1,000 residents.

Absolutely. We’re the only tour brokerage contracted by the Municipality of Skagway. We’ve been in business for more than two decades and operate under strict safety and insurance requirements. Every operator we work with is vetted and licensed.

Getting Around Skagway

We have booths conveniently located near all three cruise ship docks:

  • Skagway Broadway Dock: Across from the public restrooms before entering downtown.

  • Skagway Ore Dock: Immediately to the right after exiting the dock gates.

  • Skagway Railroad Dock: About 200 feet beyond port security.

Each location offers booking assistance and same-day tour options.

It depends on where your ship berths:

  • Broadway Dock: You’re already downtown — just a short walk to shops and tour booths.

  • Ore Dock: Roughly a 10–15-minute walk or a short ride on the SMART bus.

Railroad Dock: About one-third of a mile to town, or hop on the shuttle.

The Visitor Center is at the Arctic Brotherhood Hall, located between 2nd and 3rd Avenue on Broadway — it’s the driftwood-covered building, one of the most photographed in Alaska.

What to Expect

Weather in Alaska changes quickly. Dress in layers that can be added or removed easily.
 Bring essentials like:

  • A light raincoat
  • Comfortable walking shoes
  • Phone and charger
  • Binoculars

Snacks and water
If your tour is outdoors, plan for rain, wind, or sunshine — sometimes all in one day!

Expect mild temperatures with cool mornings and the possibility of rain or fog. Summer highs range from the mid-50s to low-70s °F.
Even in July, pack a jacket — mountain air can be chilly, especially during glacier or flightseeing tours

Yes. Dahl Memorial Clinic provides urgent and routine medical services.
It’s about one mile from the cruise docks, so you may want to take a taxi or the city bus if needed. Always bring any prescription medication you might require.
